Job Description

Scope : Handles all maintenance of vessel machinery and equipment on board vessels.
Authority : Works to instructions from the Chief Engineer and conforms to job specifications.
Contextual Factors :
The job is based on board the vessel and the job holder spends most of the duty time in the engine-room. Living and working conditions are tough, as noise level and temperatures in the engine room during summers are very high. There is exposure to the risks associated with proximity to tankers carrying hazardous cargo. A high level of physical fitness and adaptability is necessary to carry out this job effectively.

Certification Requirement

? Operate the engine room equipment as directed by the Chief Engineer and in line with the standard operating procedures. ? Assist the Chief Engineer in any other related tasks such as repairs, non-routine trouble-shooting etc. ? Marine maintenance services are provided timely to Clients standards and in line with the standard operating procedures Maintenance Duties ? Execute related maintenance jobs such as clean in, painting and part replacement for equipment and machinery on the vessel. ? Carry out routine checks and repairs on machinery and equipment on the vessel and report any unusual occurrence or observation immediately to the Chief engineer. ? Maintenance is carried to meet job and work order specifications ? Handles marine machinery and equipment with appropriate care in accord with manufacturer operating procedures Watch Keeping ? Carry out watch keeping duties as directed ensuring that all indicators, gauges etc. are monitored carefully. ? Watch keeping duties are carried out in line with standard operating procedures Safety ? Follow stringently all safety precautions and guidelines in the course of daily work. ? Compliance with safety precautions and standard operating procedures
