Key responsibilities include: Key Roles and Responsibilities: 1. Maintenance and Repair: • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment, including engines, pumps, compressors, hoisting systems, and drilling machinery. • Ensure proper upkeep of critical systems like hydraulic, pneumatic, and power generation systems. 2. Team Supervision: • Lead and manage the mechanics and technicians, delegating tasks effectively. • Train and mentor junior staff on safe and efficient work practices. 3. Planning and Scheduling: • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime. • Coordinate with other departments for planned maintenance and emergency repairs. 4. Safety and Compliance: • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of mechanical systems. • Respond to mechanical emergencies to ensure safe operations. 5. Inventory and Documentation: • Maintain an inventory of spare parts and requisition necessary supplies. • Document maintenance activities and ensure logs are up-to-date. 6. Collaboration: • Work closely with the Rig Manager, Chief Electrician, and Drilling Superintendent to align mechanical operations with drilling plans. • Provide mechanical expertise during rig moves, positioning, and critical drilling phases. 7. Specialized Systems: • Manage critical rig systems like BOP (Blowout Preventer), top drives, and mud pumps, ensuring their availability and reliability.
