• Ensure that operations are planned, organized, supervised and executed in accordance with well programs, rig move plan, pacific drilling requirements and contractual obligations. • Organize and supervise the activities of the drilling department and ensure pacific drilling work instructions are understood and observed by all crews. • Participate in the operational daily meeting, review the last 24 hours, preview the next 24/72 hours and plan for future operations with regards to equipment, personnel and logistics requirements. • Supervise all preventive maintenance or maintenance repairs occurring on drilling equipment. • Act as a safety leader ensuring the ongoing identification of hazards and the implementation of controls to manage the associated risks with a special focus on permit to work and isolation procedures. • Lead the drilling department in the planning of goals and objectives for the annual QHSE plan. • Promote and maintain a good working relationship with client representative onboard. • Ensure all rig/deck crews have the necessary competencies, training and skills to perform their tasks, through regular mentoring, appraisal and feedback to direct reports. • Plan and coordinate well control drills and ensure well control emergency procedures and responses are fully implemented and crew competencies/tickets valid and current. • Manage the different reports and ensure the morning drilling report is correct.
