The Maintenance In-Charge on a rig is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, and structural systems are operating efficiently and safely to minimize downtime and maintain operational integrity. Maintenance Planning and Execution Develop and implement maintenance schedules for all rig equipment, including machinery, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and structural components. Plan and oversee preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns and unplanned downtimes. Coordinate with the rig crew to schedule maintenance during non-critical operations. 2. Equipment Monitoring and Troubleshooting Monitor the performance of critical rig systems, such as drilling equipment, generators, pumps, cranes, and hoisting systems. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in equipment to ensure minimal impact on operations. Maintain and analyze logs of equipment performance to predict potential failures. 3. Compliance and Safety Ensure all maintenance activities comply with industry standards, manufacturer recommendations, and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment to identify hazards or non-compliance issues. Maintain safety standards for the crew working on repair and maintenance tasks. 4. Inventory and Spare Parts Management Manage the inventory of spare parts and tools to ensure availability for repairs and maintenance. Coordinate with vendors and procurement teams to acquire necessary parts and consumables. Keep accurate records of spare parts usage and storage. 5. Team Management Supervise the maintenance team, including electricians, mechanics, and technicians. Familiarity with rig equipment such as draw works, top drives, mud pumps, and blowout preventers (BOPs). Knowledge of industry regulations like API, IADC, and OSHA. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills. This role is critical to ensuring the safety and efficiency of rig operations, minimizing downtime, and maximizing productivity.
