As a Roughneck, I am responsible for supporting drilling operations on offshore and onshore oil rigs. My duties include working on the rig floor to assist with the connection and disconnection of drill pipes and casing during tripping operations. I operate and handle drilling tools such as tongs, slips, and elevators, ensuring that each operation is carried out safely and efficiently. Another key responsibility is the rigging up and rigging down of heavy equipment. I help load and unload supply vessels, move drilling materials, and organize equipment around the rig site. I work closely with the Driller, Derrickman, and other crew members to ensure all operations follow safety protocols and standard procedures. Maintaining cleanliness and functionality on the rig floor is part of my routine. I inspect and clean tools, maintain pipe racks, and support in minor mechanical repairs if needed. Safety is a top priority, so I strictly adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, participate in drills, and ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn properly. I am also expected to work long shifts, including night duties, under harsh weather conditions. My role requires physical strength, alertness, and strong teamwork to ensure smooth drilling operations and the safety of the entire crew.
