A Rig Chief Mechanic plays a vital role in the operation and safety of drilling rig. Team leadership & Maintenance Preventive maintenance system (PMS) Supervise and perform maintenance on all rig mechanical systems, Engines, Top drive, Drawworks, Roughneck, Mud pumps, Air compressors, Hydraulic & Pneumatic system, Winches, Man riders, Agitators, Centrifugal pumps, etc... Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures quickly to avoid downtime. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure proper use of tools and equipment. Train junior mechanics on maintenance procedures and safety practices. Develop and execute a preventive maintenance schedule. Conduct regular inspections of all mechanical systems. Ensure all work complies with OEM standards and company maintenance procedures. Ensure all mechanical systems are operating within safety and performance standards. Coordinate with material man or procurement for timely ordering of replacement parts. Ensure critical spares are available at all times. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance. Report mechanical issues and failures to the Toolpusher or Superintendent. Assist in preparing maintenance reports for audits. Be available 24/7 for urgent mechanical failures during drilling operations.
