As a Rig Mechanic, I am responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all mechanical equipment on the drilling rig. This includes diesel engines, mud pumps, air compressors, hydraulic systems, hoisting equipment, top drive systems, and pneumatic components. I perform routine preventive maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and carry out corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain equipment reliability. I monitor system pressures, fluid levels, and mechanical performance parameters, taking immediate action when deviations occur. I also participate in rig-up and rig-down operations during mobilization and demobilization, ensuring proper installation and dismantling of mechanical systems. Following strict safety standards, I adhere to all permit-to-work systems, isolation procedures (LOTO), and HSE policies to protect personnel and equipment. I maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and use computerized maintenance systems (CMMS) for reporting and tracking. Working closely with drillers, electricians, welders, and supervisors, I ensure seamless coordination during drilling operations. My role demands quick thinking, adaptability, and a deep understanding of rig systems to respond to emergencies and ensure operational continuity. With a strong mechanical background and commitment to safety, I contribute directly to the performance, reliability, and safety of the drilling operation.
