Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the engine room's mechanical equipment, including main engines, auxiliary systems, and drilling support systems. This involves routine maintenance, minor repairs, and assisting with more complex maintenance and repairs as directed. Motormen also monitor machinery, lubricate equipment, and maintain cleanliness and safety within the engine room. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance and Repair: Performing routine maintenance on rig engines, drilling systems, and auxiliary systems. Conducting minor repairs and assisting with major repairs as needed. Lubricating machinery and equipment. Monitoring and Reporting: Monitoring engine room systems for leaks and anomalies. Recording machinery conditions and fuel/oil levels. Reporting any faults or issues to the supervisor or relevant personnel. Housekeeping and Safety: Maintaining the cleanliness and order of the engine room and associated spaces. Ensuring a safe working environment by identifying and reporting hazards. Adhering to safety procedures and participating in safety meetings. Other Duties: Assisting with fluid transfers and valve operations. Completing engine room logs and maintenance records. Participating in emergency response duties as per the station bill. In essence, a motorman is a crucial member of the offshore rig crew, ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the engine room and its critical machinery.
