Drilling Operations: Assist the Driller in controlling drilling machinery, managing pumps, and handling drill pipes and casings. Monitor wellbore conditions, mud weight, and weight on bit. Operate equipment like draw works, mud pumps, and shakers. Participate in well development, tripping pipe, and other specialized operations. Safety & Compliance: Lead safety meetings (toolbox talks) and enforce HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) regulations. Take an active role in hazard identification, Stop Work Authority, and well control drills. Ensure proper equipment setup and maintenance, reporting any issues. Equipment & Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, inspections, lubrication, and simple repairs on rig components. Manage the inventory and readiness of drill bits, pipes, and tools. Maintain housekeeping standards in drilling areas. Reporting & Administration: Complete daily drilling reports, pre-tour reports, and handover notes. Accurately record dimensions and details of tools and tubulars run in the hole. Manage supplies and order necessary materials. Leadership & Training: Mentor and train floorhands on equipment and procedures. Ensure crew competency and morale. Communicate effectively with the entire rig team and management. Core Purpose: To ensure safe, efficient, and compliant drilling operations by supporting the Driller, maintaining equipment, managing materials, and guiding the crew, bridging the gap between the Driller and field technicians.
