The Rig HSE Officer is responsible for promoting, implementing, and maintaining a strong safety culture on the drilling rig. The officer ensures that all operations comply with company HSE policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. A key responsibility is to conduct daily rig inspections, identify hazards, and verify that corrective actions are completed promptly. The HSE Officer supports the rig team by preparing and delivering safety meetings, toolbox talks, and induction training for all personnel, including visitors and contractors. The HSE Officer monitors high-risk activities such as lifting operations, confined space entry, work at height, and well control operations to ensure that permits, procedures, and controls are properly followed. They maintain accurate HSE documentation, including incident reports, audits, safety observations, and near-miss records. When incidents occur, the HSE Officer leads or assists in investigations, identifies root causes, and recommends preventive actions to avoid recurrence. Communication is essential; therefore, the HSE Officer works closely with the Rig Manager, Driller, supervisors, and crew members to resolve safety concerns and reinforce safe work practices. They encourage employees to use Stop Work Authority and ensure that everyone understands their safety responsibilities.
