1. Support the Driller in Daily Operations Assist the Driller in operating drilling equipment and maintaining safe drilling parameters. Monitor well conditions, drilling fluid levels, pump pressures, and equipment performance. Step in for the Driller when required. --- 2. Supervise Floorhands and Roustabouts Direct the drill floor crew during drilling, tripping, and casing operations. Ensure tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Provide on-the-job coaching and training to junior crew. --- 3. Safety and Compliance Enforce rig safety procedures and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards. Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments. Stop unsafe acts and ensure that all crew follow proper PPE and safety protocols. --- 4. Equipment Monitoring and Maintenance Check the condition of drilling equipment such as top drive, draw works, pumps, BOP controls, rotary equipment, and mud systems. Report any abnormalities or equipment issues to the Driller and maintenance team. Ensure proper maintenance logs are completed. --- 5. Monitoring Well Conditions Watch for signs of kicks, fluid losses, gas levels, and other well-control indicators. Support the Driller in implementing well-control procedures when needed. Maintain accurate records of pit levels, mud data, and drilling parameters. --- 6. Assist in Well Control Operations Operate choke manifold or assist the Driller in managing well control equipment. Ensure BOP systems are ready and participate in BOP drills. Maintain knowledge of the well control manual and emergency procedures. --- 7. Coordination and Communication Communicate operational needs between Driller, Toolpusher, Derrickman, Floorhands, and Mud Engineers. Relay instructions clearly to ensure smooth workflow. Log operational activities and report to supervisors. --- 8. Rig Up / Rig Down Operations Oversee safe rig-up and rig-down operations. Ensure all equipment is installed, tested, and functioning correctly. Coordinate with maintenance and third-party personnel. --- 9. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate reports on drilling operations, equipment status, and crew activities. Assist in completing daily drilling reports, safety checklists, and maintenance logs. --- 10. Emergency Response Participate in drills for fire, blowout, man-overboard, and other emergencies. Act as a first responder to incidents on the drill floor. Know the rig’s emergency systems and escape routes.
