As a Roughneck, my primary responsibility is to support all rig floor operations to ensure the drilling process runs efficiently and safely. I assist with tripping drill pipes, handling drill collars, and operating rig floor equipment such as elevators, slips, tongs, and other tools. I also help the Derrickman and Driller in maintaining smooth operations on the rig floor. Maintenance of equipment is a key part of my role. I regularly inspect, clean, and grease drilling tools, mud pumps, and other machinery to prevent breakdowns and ensure the rig operates without interruptions. I assist with the mud system by monitoring mud levels, cleaning mud pits, and supporting mixing operations when required. Safety is always a top priority. I strictly follow all HSE rules, wear the necessary PPE, and ensure my colleagues follow safety guidelines. I participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and emergency drills, such as fire or man-overboard drills, to be prepared for any situation. Additionally, I help with rig-up and rig-down activities, offloading and loading materials, and supporting Roustabouts when needed. My goal is to support the drilling team in a way that maximizes efficiency, reduces downtime, and ensures the safety of all personnel on the rig.
