Floor man responsible for maintaining smooth and safe rig operations on the drill floor. The role mainly involves assisting with drilling, tripping, and casing operations. A floorman handles drill pipes, collars, and other tubulars, ensuring they are properly aligned, cleaned, and connected. During tripping in and out of the hole, the floorman works with the derrickman and driller to latch elevators, guide pipe stands, and operate tongs and slips safely and responsible for maintaining cleanliness and housekeeping on the drill floor, removing drilling mud, and ensuring all tools and equipment are stored in their proper locations. They also perform regular inspection and maintenance of rig equipment such as tongs, slips, chains, and safety devices to prevent operational hazards. Supporting the Derrickman with mud system checks, mixing chemicals, and monitoring mud pits may also be part of the job. Safety is a major priority; a floorman must follow all HSE procedures, wear proper PPE, participate in safety meetings, and report any unsafe conditions immediately. Overall, the floorman ensures efficient drilling operations through teamwork, physical effort, and strict adherence to rig safety standards.
