A Roustabout plays an essential role in supporting offshore drilling operations by performing a wide range of physical and operational tasks on the rig. The primary responsibility is to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment on deck, ensuring that all equipment, tools, and materials are properly handled and stored. A Roustabout assists the drilling and deck crew by helping with pipe handling, connecting and disconnecting equipment, and preparing materials required for ongoing operations. The role also includes assisting in crane operations by attaching slings, guiding loads, and ensuring all lifting activities are performed safely under supervision. Daily duties involve cleaning and organizing work areas, washing equipment, chipping, painting, greasing machinery, and supporting minor maintenance activities. A Roustabout must follow strict safety standards, wear proper PPE, and participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and emergency drills. Reporting unsafe conditions, hazards, or incidents to supervisors is also an important part of the job to maintain a safe working environment. Additionally, a Roustabout supports other departments when required, ensuring smooth operations across the rig. The position demands physical fitness, teamwork, communication skills, and the ability to work in challenging offshore conditions while maintaining a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
