Installs stop collars and centralizers on casing. Performs housekeeping on the drill floor and conducts inspections as requested. Takes mud samples and checks weight and viscosity; maintains documentation. Assists the Derrick man in mixing and handling mud and chemicals; adjusts the flow of mud. Maintains, repairs, adjusts shaker equipment and assist with maintaining of all solid control and mixing equipment. Monitors hole for adequate fill. Performs maintenance and simple repairs on blowout prevention (BOP) equipment under supervision. Performs all duties according to the Permit to Work System. Assist the Crane Operator with rigging equipment, tubulars, pipes, and casing that need to be moved or relocated throughout the rig. Inspect and rig loads using slings, tag lines, chains, shackles, lift caps, hooks, chain binders, and other lifting equipment. Hook and unhook the crane from slings, equipment, and other loads. Assist in handling and safely mixing mud and chemicals, and properly dispose of debris. Serve as a relief worker for the drill crew when required. Organize equipment and materials on the rig floor to ensure an adequate and safe working area. Perform maintenance, washing, and cleaning of the drilling rig, including but not limited to, chipping and painting decking and equipment. Prepare surfaces for painting using appropriate tools and select the proper equipment for the task. Carry out other duties as assigned by management.
