Roles and Responsibilities
A rigger prepares and moves heavy loads using specialized equipment like cranes, hoists, and winches, focusing on safety by inspecting gear, calculating weights, and signaling operators, working in construction, manufacturing, or entertainment. They select appropriate slings, attach them securely, set up temporary structures, and ensure all operations comply with strict safety protocols, coordinating closely with the lifting team.Planning & Preparation: Assessing loads, calculating weights, planning lifting procedures, and selecting rigging gear (slings, shackles, beams). Equipment Handling: Setting up, operating, and dismantling rigging equipment, including cranes, hoists, and winches. Load Securing: Attaching loads securely with appropriate hardware and signaling crane operators. Safety & Inspection: Regularly inspecting all rigging gear for defects, ensuring reliability, and adhering to all safety regulations. Coordination: Working with crane operators, engineers, and other crew members to ensure smooth operations. Maintenance: Cleaning, storing, and performing minor repairs on rigging equipment.
