Roles and Responsibilities
System Operation: Controlling the DP system in automatic, joystick, or manual modes to maintain position and heading, particularly during station keeping, ROV operations, and vessel maneuvering. Monitoring and Safety: Continuously monitoring DP alert systems, power generation, thrust units, and position references (GPS, taut wire, hydroacoustic) to prevent loss of position. Emergency Response: Executing emergency procedures in the event of equipment failure or position loss, and managing power, ballast, and stability systems. Communication and Planning: Communicating with the bridge team, engine room, and offshore personnel to ensure safe operations, and reviewing Well Specific Operating Guidelines (WSOG). Documentation: Maintaining DP logs, checklists, and incident reports in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. Operational Setup: Configuring the DP system parameters before operations and monitoring for changing weather or traffic.
