As Chief Engineer, I have overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and economical operation of the engine department and all technical systems onboard offshore vessels and jack-up units. I am responsible for planning, execution and supervision of maintenance and repair activities in accordance with company procedures, manufacturer recommendations and class requirements. I manage and control the Planned Maintenance System (AMOS / TM Master / Bassnet), including scheduling of maintenance tasks, defect reporting, follow-up of outstanding jobs and preparation for audits and inspections. I ensure full compliance with ISM, ISPS, MLC 2006, Flag State and Class regulations, and actively participate in internal, external and port state inspections. My duties include budget control, technical purchasing, spare parts management and cost optimization without compromising safety or operational readiness. I am responsible for the management, leadership and training of engine department personnel, promoting safe working practices and effective teamwork. I provide technical support during offshore operations, including jack-up operations, jacking and preloading activities, DP-supported operations, crane operations, STS transfers and bunkering of offshore units. I have experience with jack-up systems, including monitoring, operation support and maintenance of jacking systems such as Gusto. I coordinate closely with the Master, offshore management and shore-based technical teams to ensure smooth project execution, vessel readiness and high operational reliability. I also oversee engine room safety, risk assessments, permit-to-work systems and emergency preparedness, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently.
