As Master in the offshore industry, I am the overall authority and accountable person onboard, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel at all times. My primary duty is to ensure the safety of personnel, protection of the environment, and integrity of the vessel and its equipment. I exercise command over all marine operations including navigation, station keeping, DP operations where applicable, anchoring, mooring, and close coordination with offshore installations. I am responsible for planning and supervising ballast operations, cargo operations, bunkering, and helicopter operations, ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with approved procedures and risk assessments. I oversee GMDSS operations and maintain readiness for emergency response at all times. Safety leadership is a core part of my role. I ensure full compliance with company SMS, HSE policies, environmental regulations, and Drug and Alcohol policies. I chair daily meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings, and make sure regular drills and onboard training sessions are conducted effectively. I promote a strong safety culture where hazards are reported and risks are properly managed. I also manage crew performance, discipline, and welfare, including oversight of the catering department. During medical emergencies or critical situations, I coordinate response efforts and liaise with shore management and external authorities as required. In summary, I am fully responsible for maintaining operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and a safe working environment while representing the company’s standards and values offshore.
