As an HSE Officer in the drilling field on my recent job, I was responsible for ensuring that all drilling operations were carried out safely and in full compliance with company HSE policies and regulatory requirements. I actively monitored daily activities on the rig floor to identify potential hazards and ensured that proper control measures were implemented to prevent incidents. I conducted daily toolbox talks and pre-job safety meetings to brief the crew about job-specific risks and safe work procedures. I prepared and reviewed Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for critical tasks such as lifting operations, working at height, confined space entry, hot work, and pressure-related activities. I closely monitored the Permit to Work (PTW) system to ensure all high-risk jobs were properly authorized and executed according to safety standards. I carried out routine inspections of drilling equipment, machinery, and work areas to eliminate unsafe acts and conditions. I investigated incidents and near misses, identified root causes, and implemented corrective and preventive actions. I ensured proper use of PPE and compliance with safety rules at all times. Additionally, I conducted emergency drills including fire and blowout response exercises, maintained accurate HSE documentation and reports, and continuously promoted a strong safety culture among the drilling crew to achieve zero incidents and safe operational performance.
