Roles and Responsibilities

• Reports to Deck pusher /Chief mate of any conflicting priorities in tasks brought before them by various work groups. • Operate cranes and deck operations and ensure these operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner. • Provide Roustabouts with relevant instructions for current and forthcoming operations. • Ensure pre-job meeting is done prior to all non-routine deck operations. • Ensure all cranes and deck operations such as running casing, picking up or laying down tubular, placement of equipment and supplies, et cetera. • Coordinate supply boat traffic, particularly during loading and unloading materials with the supervision of the deck pusher/supervisor • Check lifted loads for clearance, obstructions in movement, balance, and proper attachment. • Maintain the replacement or installation of mooring lines and bulk fill up hoses. • Ensure a clean and organized main deck and pipe deck. • Ensure all Lift Plans are completed correctly and signed off on completion. • Ensure generic Lift Plans are systematically reviewed. • Ensure the lifting equipment register is properly maintained and up to date. • Manage change effectively through participation in the Hazard Management, Stop work and / or corrective action procedures. • Prepare handover reports for incoming crane operator and relief and advice the latter verbally of current, past and impending operations. • Complete and submit reports, logs, records and notes in accordance to procedures and instructions. • Ensure that Assistant crane operators are being trained in main cranes, knuckle boom and gantry cranes. • Ensure that only marked certified and suitable slings, wire, shackles, blocks and hooks are used and available for use for lifting purposes. • Taking active leading role in safety meetings, tool box meetings and safety drills. • Carrying out preventive maintenance on cranes and associated wire lines, operate air hoist, hydraulic hoist, forklift, chain hoist & other cargo handling gear to pick up and move tubular and other heavy equipment. • Transfer equipment in and out of the drill floor at any point in time as needed by tool pusher. • Prepare cargo backload manifest to be sign by the company representative with the consent of the warehouse man before sending ashore. • Perform proper crane maintenance (change of crane wire, greasing of nipples, wire measurement, according to weekly and monthly pre-maintenance basis) • Performs helicopter landing operations (H.L.O) during helicopter operation on helideck. • Perform landing and retrieval of Xmas tree,THS,(tubing hanger spool) using active heave compensation. • Certified in performing complex lift active heave crane operations, subsea asset landing and lifting in AHC. • Perform personnel transfer with Billy Pugh basket, having on life jacket in and out of the rig to supply vessel.
