My role as an Electrical Technician at an oil field site involves maintaining, inspecting, and troubleshooting electrical systems that support drilling, production, and facility operations. I am responsible for ensuring that all electrical equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards. My daily tasks include installing and maintaining power distribution systems, control panels, motors, transformers, and lighting systems used across the facility. I regularly inspect electrical components to detect faults, wear, or potential hazards, and I perform preventive maintenance to reduce the risk of equipment failure. Another important part of my job is diagnosing and repairing electrical faults in equipment such as pumps, generators, and control systems. I use technical drawings, electrical schematics, and testing tools like multimeters and insulation testers to identify and solve problems quickly to minimize downtime. Safety is a key priority in oil and gas operations, so I strictly follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout systems, and electrical safety standards to protect personnel and equipment. I also work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other technicians to ensure smooth operation of the facility.
