Design and execute well plans to safely reach subsurface targets at minimum cost, while managing technical risks, well integrity, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities · Well Design & Planning · Select casing strings, cement programs, bit types, BHA components, and hydraulics. · Model torque/drag, surge/swab, and wellbore stability. · Design directional trajectories (including horizontal/multilateral wells). · Operational Execution · Write drilling programs, procedures, and contingency plans. · Monitor real-time data (MWD/LWD, mud logging, surface parameters). · Lead daily operations meetings with rig crews, service providers, and geologists. · Cost & Risk Management · Prepare AFEs (authorization for expenditure) and track daily costs vs. budget. · Conduct risk assessments (H2S, shallow gas, lost circulation, stuck pipe). · Optimize drilling parameters (ROP, weight on bit, RPM, flow rate). · Technology & Innovation · Apply managed pressure drilling (MPD), rotary steerable systems (RSS), or expandable tubulars. · Analyze post-well data to refine offset well learnings.
