Roles and Responsibilities
Monitor drilling activity and record all relevant data Maintain mud pits and mud systems Conduct routine tests on drilling fluids Ensure all safety regulations are followed Operate and maintain relevant equipment Monitor drilling parameters in real time (ROP, WOB, torque, pump pressure, flow rate, mud weight, etc.). • Record lithology and cuttings descriptions at regular depth intervals. • Collect, wash, and analyze drill cuttings for geological and hydrocarbon indicators. • Operate gas detection equipment to monitor total and chromatographic gas levels. • Ensure samples are labeled, stored, and prepared according to company and client specifications. • Maintain accurate and detailed sample logs for future reference. • Report unusual lithologies, oil shows, or hydrocarbon indications to the wellsite geologist. • Assist in identifying formation tops, casing points, and coring points. • Provide real-time data to drilling engineers and geologists for operational decisions. • Notify the drilling team of abnormal drilling trends or hazards (e.g., kicks, losses). • Follow company HSE policies and site safety rules. • Identify and report unsafe conditions or environmental risks. • Ensure safe handling and disposal of chemical reagents used in sample processing. • Produce daily and end-of-well reports with geological interpretations. • Maintain clear communication with the wellsite geologist, drilling supervisors, and mudlogging unit manager. • Submit gas and lithology logs as per the client’s requirements. • Calibrate gas detectors, sensors, and other logging equipment regularly. • Ensure all mudlogging unit systems are operational and troubleshoot technical issues. • Maintain proper inventory of consumables and spare parts. • Be on standby during critical drilling operations (e.g., drilling into potential reservoir zones). . Assist in well control operations by providing timely drilling and gas data.
