Roles and Responsibilities
Sample Collection and Analysis: Collecting, washing, drying, and examining drill cuttings under a microscope to identify rock types, porosity, and oil staining. Gas Monitoring: Operating and calibrating gas detection equipment (chromatographs) to measure total gas and gas components ( ) to identify potential reservoir zones. Drilling Parameters Monitoring: Recording data such as rate of penetration (ROP), mud flow rates, pump pressure, and hook load to analyze performance. Reporting: Creating daily geological logs and, in the absence of a Data Engineer, acting as the primary point of communication for operational events. Safety and Well Control: Identifying potential hazards such as gas kicks or abnormal pressure changes, and immediate reporting to the drill crew to mitigate risks. Equipment Maintenance: Calibrating and maintaining monitoring equipment, sensors, and the logging unit to ensure accuracy and safety
