Description

  • Responsible for analyzing, evaluating and describing formations while drilling using cuttings, gas, and Wireline data; comparing data gathered during drilling with predictions
  • Advise operations personnel on site and in operations office; identify lithostratigraphic formation boundaries, casing setting depths and coring points; calling for coring on shows and gas; advising on drilling hazards and drilling bit optimization;
    Supervising Mudlogging and Wireline services personnel, monitoring quality control in relation to Mudlogging and Wireline services, keeping detailed records and writing reports undertaking evaluation of offset data before beginning drilling.
    Liaising with drilling engineers, petroleum engineers and Mudloggers; training staff as required; acting in effect, as the representative of the geology team; ensuring transmission of logs and reports to the management and to the joint venture partners.  Liaising with specialist contractors; monitoring safety continuously and ensuring good maintenance of the well; ensuring adherence to environmental protection standards, in some cases through direct discussion with local governments to ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
  • 25 years experience in subsurface geology including at least 10 years in supervisory capacity in geological operation with working knowledge of computer packages including but not limited to Landmark software Stratworks and Z-Map, Petrel, Petra and PC Microsoft computer applications. Directs and supervises the geological and drilling activities. Conducts geological studies and integrates geological, geophysical, petrophysical data along with reservoir engineering data i.e. reservoir characterization studies, to develop, build and update static models for use in simulation studies and models. These studies will be used to achieve higher recoveries and enhance reservoir management.

       Wellsite Geologist and Operations Geologist

  • Advising on drilling hazards and drilling bit optimization; responsible for making decisions about suspending or continuing drilling. Supervision of all formation evaluation contractors, evident Wireline logging operations, perform quick log analysis, Advise the drilling team (Company man, Drilling Engineer, Mud Engineer Tool pusher and Rig Crew) when necessary.
  • Prepare geological well forecasts and structural prediction through interpretation and analysis of wire line logs, Geological maps and core data, and prepares Final Well Report related to his assignment for supervisor’s review.  Ensure that all pertinent data is kept in the computer files.
  • Participate in the updating of all geological documents such as maps (Isobath, Isopach, Isopor, Void Volume and lithofacies) cross section, core reports and statistics. Supervise the work of contractors and laboratory assistants on the rigs to ensure proper implementation of the geological programs and to ensure safe working practices. Control the quality of logging carried out by the contractors;  approving the logs, performing well site interpretation to assist in best decision making with regard to the progress of the well program
