Nature of work: Geomorphological changes can be monitored using Microwave satellite images along the Tamilnadu Coast and action plan maps prepared in GIS environment. RESEARCH PROJECT: Project Title: “Biomass Estimation of Teakwood forests using GIS & Microwave Remote Sensing” in Parambikulam-Aliyar reserved forest area in Tamilnadu & Kerala border. Nature of work: Identification of Teakwood plantations using detailed ground truth verifications and mapping of satellite Image using classification techniques (Supervised Classification – Maximum Likelihood etc.) are to be done and GIS database has been prepared for action plan in the Parambikulam-Aliyar Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamilnadu-Kerala border Sponsoring Agency: Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India, New Delhi 4. RESEARCH PROJECT: Project Title: “Generation of large scale Village Information System for the Tsunami affected village, Chennai, Tamilnadu using GIS mapping techniques” Nature of work: Survey Maps have been collected from each household and all the attribute database has been generated in the GIS environment. All the thematic maps has been prepared from High resolution Satellite Image (IKONOS) and overlaid with survey Maps for micro level planning and Action plan generation at the Village level. PROJECT HANDLED: PROJECT #1: Title of the Project:Generation of Cadastral Level Resources Information System for the priority watersheds of Nilgiris District, Tamilnadu using GIS and Remote Sensing techniques. Nature of work: The survey maps have been collected from Survey and Land records department and geo referenced using GPS points. All the thematic maps prepared in large scale (1:5,000 Scale) by using Remote Sensing techniques (IRS P6 and Ortho photo) and overlaid with the survey maps for micro level planning in the Nilgiris District. DEM (Digital Elevation Model) has been derived by using ArcView 3D Analyst for the entire Nilgiris District PROJECT #2: Title of the Project: Identification of Degraded forests in Tamilnadu, India using GIS Techniques and detailed ground truth verifications. Nature of work: Degraded forest map has been prepared from IRS 1C & 1D Satellite Image & Survey of India Toposheet in 1:50,000 scale by using in GIS software. PROJECT #3: Title of the Project: Identification and preparation of Landuse maps of Tamilnadu using GIS and Remote Sensing Techniques. Nature of work: Identification and mapping of Landuse patterns (1:50,000 Scale) using Image Interpretation (NRSA interpretation keys), Image Classification (Supervised) and GIS (ArcGIS) package for the improvement of land quality sponsored by Govt. of Tamilnadu. PROJECT #4: Title of the Project: Blockwise digital database management on Wastelands using GIS mapping Techniques for Tamilnadu blocks. Nature of work: Blockwise digital database has been prepared by using Image Interpretation Techniques (IRS 1C & 1D Satellite Image) and GIS for Land Information system in Tamilnadu TRAINING PROGRAMMES ATTENDED: #Underwent one month training on Geophysical exploration and well logging techniques in OIL AND NATURAL GAS CORPORATION LTD (ONGC), Chennai, India. Stratigraphy and structural formations of Cauvery basin has been studied and petroleum exploration techniques were taught. #Two weeks Training Programme on ‘Satellite Remote Sensing for Natural Resource Management’ conducted by Department of Geology, Anna University, Chennai. #Two weeks Training Programme on “Geological Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System” conducted by Department of Geology, Anna University, Chennai. CONFERENCE & JOURNAL PUBLICATIONS: Attended and published research papers in the field of geological applications in national and international levels. REVIEWER / EVALUATOR / EXAMINER: #Served as a reviewer for the international journal “Water Resource Management” in Springer from Journals Editorial Office, WARM, Springer, AZ Dordrecht, The Netherlands” for the publication of research papers. #Evaluated a Research Proposal entitled "Generation of Geocoded Spatial Digital Database and Data Mining Tool for the various Natural Resources of the Western Ghats of Tamilnadu" from Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Govt. of India, New Delhi. #Conducted Viva –Voce Examination and served as an Examiner for M.Tech (Remote Sensing) at Institute of Remote Sensing, Anna University, Chennai on December 6, 2006. #Conducted Viva-Voce Examination and served as an Examiner for M.
