Job Responsibilities as a Driller:

 

• Supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in drilling activities
• Ensuring strict health and safety standards are followed by all staff
• Assist in keeping equipment and systems operational and ensure that repairs are carried out.
• Interpret and respond to down whole conditions and make decisions based on the available information.
• Assist in monitoring that rig equipment and systems are used as designated
• Assist the Operator in efficient use of rig in conjunction of drilling program and knowledge of available equipment.
•   
• Directing workers to erect, dismantle and move drilling rigs and drilling crews in setting up and operating power units, draw works and other drilling equipment
• Planning delivery of drilling tools, fuel, water and other supplies for use at drill site
• Ordering various types of drilling bits to be used, according to type of strata encountered
• Directs workers in mixing drilling mud and circulating mud in borehole, and in use of special drilling mud to prevent blowouts from gas pressure
• Ordering installation of control head (valve device) to control flow of oil
• Maintain good communication of information to update the Tool Pusher and prepare handover notes. 
• Supervising operations at wells to maintain and regulate flow of oil
• Mentoring junior staff                                  
• Rig up operations, pre-loading, pre-spud meeting with all drill crewmembers to outline the details of the well program.

 

• Operated gasoline, diesel, electric and steam draw works to drill oil or gas wells. Observed pressure gauge and moved throttles and levers to control speed of rotary table which rotated string of tools in borehole and to regulate pressure of tools at bottom of borehole.

 

• Supervise pressure test of BOP, Choke Manifold, Casing, Tubing and packer etc. Secure the well during an emergency or well control situation - assist in the well killing operations.

 

• Wrote, designed and produced daily reports.

 

• Connected sections of drill pipe, using handtools and powered wrenches and tongs.

 

• Tieback casing wells, flaring and testing. The completion included running a packer and frac port string into the hole. After setting the packer and running chrom tubing.

 

• Drilling multi lateral horizontal wells and completion wells

 

• Trained and managed rig floor crew and achieved significant improvements in their productivity.

 

• Pushed levers and brake pedals to control draw works which lowered and raised drill pipe and casing into and out of well.

 

• Examined operation of slush pumps to ensure circulation and consistency of mud in well.

 

• Examined drillings and core samples from bottom of well to determine nature of strata.

 

• Fished for and recovered lost and broken bits, casing and drill pipes from well, using special tools attached to end of drill pipe or cable.

 

• Kept records of footage drilled, location and nature of strata penetrated and materials used.

 

• Capped well and turned valves to regulate outflow of oil from well.

 

• Repaired and replaced defective parts of machinery.

 

• Lowered and exploded charge in borehole to start flow of oil from well.

 

• Knowledge of all technical calculations required for the safe operation of the drilling unit assigned and basic computer skills.

 

• Work with cementing and other service companies with running tools and supervise the drill crew with the procedure.

 

• As a Driller performed different type of Milling & Fishing Operations, Make Fishing and Milling BHA as per required situation with supervision of Well Site Leader.
