Job Description

Client Campaign in NOV 2015 for Designation: APC Engineer

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Supervises all maintenance activities relating to Civil works involving installations, construction and maintenance of buildings, steel structures, concrete structures, foundation supports, drainage systems and all other minor concrete works in Pipelines and Terminal Department. Also responsible for all maintenance activities such as cold and hot insulation, painting and the scaffolding works etc.

Develops scope of work and follows up on the contracted out civil projects related to Maintenance Section.

Supervision of Personnel and Functions:
Provides work direction to assigned contracted personnel in the civil maintenance unit.

Supervises and participates in general carpentry, maintenance of air-conditioning ducts, masonry, painting, plumbing works, hot and cold insulation work and scaffolding work for all maintenance activities in the section. Allocates work based on issued work orders, monitors and reviews the work completed.

Supervises all above and below ground drinking water and fire water line repairs in and around Industrial area. Monitors general labour activities of trench digging, levelling, and sand clearance. Determines labour required for such tasks at various locations, and schedules activities accordingly.

Scope of Maintenance Work:
Reviews work orders and determines priorities based on work schedules and commitments related to own area; visits work sites to determine extent of work and other requirements e.g. materials, special tools or equipment required; allocates jobs to contracted craftsmen and provides necessary technical guidance for execution of jobs in accordance with company’s standards, specifications and HSE requirements.

Inspection and Survey Functions:
Performs periodic surveys of critical structures and installations to identify abnormal conditions, settlements and material determination. Carries out remedial actions within maintenance scope for equipment foundations, tank bases, buildings, roads, fences, steel structures, sewage/drainage systems, grade slabs, and underground and above ground drinking water and fire water services in complete industrial area as per company’s standards, specifications and HSE requirements.

Carries out regular inspection of work areas to ensure that safe working conditions are provided, and equipment and tools are used in accordance with operating instructions, and that unused materials are returned to stores for reuse.

Participates in TQM and HSE system and conducts weekly safety talk to subordinates.

Certification Requirement

Contractors Based Civil Projects: Develops scope of work for minor maintenance related civil projects, and assists in technical bid evaluation pertaining to maintenance related civil projects. Supervises projects carried out by outside contractors e.g. painting, insulation, concrete works, etc. to ensure works are executed in accordance with company’s standards, specifications and HSE requirements. Reviews and verifies contractor’s work in progress for maintenance related civil jobs and ensures that work executed is according to the provisions of the contract. Checks work in progress at industrial, office and workshop locations. Inspects all painting, carpentry, masonry, plumbing work, hot and cold insulation work and scaffolding work carried out by both company and contracted craftsmen for conformity to standards and operational requirements. Checks the work orders and passes to Maintenance Section Head for endorsement and then forwards to Maintenance Planning Section. Health, Safety, Environment and Fire Procedures(HSEF): Knows the Company’s Health, Safety, Environment and Fire Policy, Procedures, Regulations and Objectives and ensures they are effectively implemented in the work place. Miscellaneous: Performs other similar or related duties as assigned, such as maintaining appropriate records of buildings crafts activities; charging time, materials and manpower to the proper work orders accounts and preparing various monthly reports and other statements of work carried out.
